‘Where Potential Finds Its Path’
At True North Alternative Provision, our mission is to provide personalised, high-quality education and support for young people who require an alternative pathway to learning. We are committed to re-engaging pupils through a safe, structured, and nurturing environment that recognises individual needs, strengths, and aspirations. Our provision promotes positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and meaningful relationships, enabling pupils to rebuild confidence and develop essential skills for learning and life.
We work in partnership with schools, families, and local authorities to ensure clear communication, consistency, and effective planning. Our curriculum and vocational opportunities are designed to support engagement, progress, and positive outcomes, including successful reintegration, transition to further education, training, or employment.
Guided by a belief that every young person deserves direction, stability, and opportunity, True North supports pupils to make informed choices and move forward with purpose towards positive and sustainable futures.
Staff Expectations and Values
At True North Alternative Provision, all staff uphold the highest standards of professionalism, care, and integrity. We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment where every young person is valued, supported, and encouraged to succeed.
Staff build positive, consistent relationships with pupils, recognising individual needs, backgrounds, and circumstances. We promote a trauma-informed, child-centred approach that supports emotional wellbeing, positive behaviour, and re-engagement with learning. All staff maintain high expectations while providing appropriate support, structure, and challenge.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Staff are required to follow all safeguarding procedures, maintain professional boundaries, and act in the best interests of the young person, always.
We value teamwork, reflective practice, and effective communication with young people, colleagues, families, schools, and local authorities. Staff model positive behaviour, demonstrate resilience and empathy, and contribute to continuous improvement to ensure positive outcomes for all learners.
Young Person Expectations and Values
At True North Alternative Provision, we believe every young person deserves respect, support, and the opportunity to succeed. We work together to create a safe, calm, and positive environment where everyone feels valued and listened to.
Young people are expected to treat others with respect, including staff, peers, and visitors. This means using appropriate language, following agreed boundaries, and taking responsibility for actions and choices. We expect young people to engage positively with learning activities, try their best, and ask for support when needed.
We value honesty, effort, and resilience. Making mistakes is part of learning, and we encourage and support young people to reflect, learn, and move forward positively. Attendance, punctuality, and cooperation help everyone succeed and are important expectations.
Everyone has the right to feel safe. We expect young people to contribute to a supportive community, where differences are respected, concerns are shared, and positive behaviour helps create the right direction for learning and future success.
